Silver Falls State ParkApril 13, 1996This trip was the only hike scheduled for this weekend — 25 people signed up for it. But prolonged rains must have discouraged some, and only 15 (lucky ones!) showed up. The weather turned out to be perfect: warm and sunny. The falls were flowing full and the countryside was lush and green. Last winter’s big storm destroyed two foot-bridges which have not yet been replaced. So instead of hiking seven miles to see all ten waterfalls, we did the hike in two segments and only saw six falls. Hikers were Scott Hovis, Pat Bean, Barbara Bruns, Bonnie Manheim, Ralph Olive, Verlean McCoy, Earl Dill, Nioma Jolin, Ivan Vandeberg, Sig Otto, Virginia Prouty, Margee Wright, Max Brown, Rita Johnson and trip leader Jean Ridone. |
