June 29, 1996

On Saturday, June 29, eight Obsidians and friends spent a fine day improving a trail on Mt. Pisgah. The weather could not have been better for this energetic crew. Armed with leather gloves, lopers, brush mower and a will to work, we cut and hauled a small mountain of blackberry vines to reopen access into a pretty woodland pond not far from the Arboretum. Good company made the work a pleasure and everyone enjoyed the day and the place and came away justly pleased with the results of their labor. Many thanks to a group of hard-working volunteers: Max Brown, Sylvia Harvey, Ben Jeffries, Rob O’Conner, Ralph Olive, Nate Nelson and Joanne Vinton. Thanks also to the Mt. Pisgah Arboretum for providing tools and equipment and to Margee Wright and daughters for the brownies that helped fuel the crew. Leader: Doug Nelson.
