Clark Butte TrailJune 2, 1996Six volunteers spent a good part of this overcast but fine day clearing nearly a mile of the Clark Butte Trail in the Lowell Ranger District. We enjoyed good company as we cut out several small deadfalls, brushed back where needed and removed countless branches from a trail that none of us had hiked on before. On reaching the summit of the butte (where we called it a day), we wondered if anyone used the trail. Our question was answered by the arrival of a hiker, fellow Obsidian Palmore Clarke! Thanks to volunteers Joanne Ledet, Bill Montgomery, Royal Murdock and Ivan Nelson for joining in this work party despite short notice. And special thanks to Margee Wright for her help in organizing the project. I’m sure we all came away feeling that the day and effort were well spent. —Doug Nelson (leader) |
