Corvallis-Philomath

December 10, 1995

A blacktop bike trail — connecting Corvallis and Philomath — winds through the countryside, sometimes next to streets, other times through parks. Because it was raining, we decided to shuttle, parking one vehicle in Corvallis, the other in Philomath. The distance between the two towns is six miles. Sparsely vegetated area plus residential areas necessitates planned restroom stops in either town. We started walking from Philomath, stopped half-way for snacks and lunch under a covered picnic area next to a small pond. The trip ended at a coffee shop in Corvallis located two blocks from the trail: The Beanery was a nice, warm and dry respite from a rainy Sunday. Enjoying the walk were Ginnie Busey, Wendy Clarke, Bonnie Manheim, Virginia Prouty, Dick & Lucy Rayle, Nani Sarosa, Velma Shirk and trip leader Sylvia Harvey. [Special note to participants: The leaning barn on Peoria Road is now a pile of wood!]
