Pengra PassFebruary 26, 1995We weren’t sure if there would even be any snow to ski on, as warm as the weather had been in the preceding weeks. We were in luck — still a couple of feet left! Our plans changed however after we’d skied along the road and entered the forest. There, so much debris (needles and twigs) had gathered on the snow that those who hadn’t rented skis decided to opt instead for cleaner snow in some of the gentle basins. Here we practiced our jumps and other fine points of skiing for a couple of hours before returning to the trailhead and Eugene. Skiers were Cheryl Berry, Joshua Ladau, Janet Hall, Van Likes, Mike Landes and Dallas Hemphill (leader). |
