(Ray Benson) Island Lake
February 18, 1995
It is recognized that the rain falls on the just as well as the unjust, but must it fall on
several inches of fresh snow?
Should be a law about that!
Well, it did rain on our ski trip to Ray Benson.
We witnessed the wet tragedy from the dry security of the Hoodoo cafe shop.
This was after the shock of a collision of a snow mobile, the driver perhaps blinded by the rain,
which ran into the side of Norma Lockyear’s car in the parking lot.
Watching the rain we six Obsidians — Cheryl Berry, Mike Landes, Norma Lockyear, Glenn Meares,
Clare Tucker and leader Royal Murdock — decided that discretion was the better part of
valor and returned to Eugene without taking our skis off the rack.
