November 12, 1995
We had good luck at the Dean Creek elk viewing area.
A large herd was bedded down next to the highway at a place we could stop the cars,
get out and get a good look.
At that time, there was a little blue in the sky and the clouds were lifting.
We all thought we would have a hike through the Dunes with a little sunshine,
but the clouds closed back in as we hiked toward the beach, no rain
— just clouds and a little fog.
The rain held off until the end of lunch and then it started slowly and became steady as we made
our way back to the car.
This was a hike with the most rain and the least amount of beach I’ve ever seen.
We all settled in at the foot of the foredune for lunch.
Hikers were David Becker, Gayle Berge, Greg Cleary, Arthur Golden, Helen Liguori, Bonnie Manheim,
Ray Mikesell, Karen Prater, Dave Predeek, Gene Thaxton and Jane Hackett, leader.
