This was my first trip up Maxwell Butte.
I’d cross-country skied part of the trail, but not enough to get up to the spectacular views.
The trail gains 2500 ft. in a little under 5 miles, and thereby takes one up to some of the
best mountain views in Oregon.
One can see from Diamond Peak and the Three Sisters to Mt. Jefferson, Mt. Hood and even,
very faintly, Mt. Rainier.
There are also about a dozen mountain lakes including Twin Lakes — in which a few of us swam!
Ten of us enjoyed this clear, late summer day together: Cheryl Berry, Don Jennings, Rita Johnson,
Josh Ladau, Bob Lemon, Ralph Olive, Rich Roman, Sunny Rude, Ruby Seitz
and Bill Montgomery (leader).
