Waldo Mountain

August 19, 1995

Leaving memories of mid-August rain behind us, our goodly group of nine hiked three miles to Waldo Mountain lookout on a beautiful, fresh, sunny morning. The view of the Cascades and Waldo Lake was stunning. Even Mt. Hood was clearly visible. During lunch at the lookout, Forest Service persons (engaged in re-painting the lookout) regaled us with stories and descriptions of the environs. After lunch our wellbunched group completed this leisurely, most enjoyable hike by descending .8 mile down the east slope of Waldo and then circling back to the west through lush Waldo Meadow and on out to trailhead on the Salmon Lakes Trail. Recent cold weather made the mosquito problem minimal. Enjoying this hike were guests Mari Baldwin, Kurt Cyrus, Maggie Gontrum, Larry Huff, Janet Levine, Sunny Rude and Yvonne Yannoni and Obsidians David Becker and trip leader Marc Hansen.
