Father’s Day Bike RideJune 18, 1995When the alarm went off in the wee hours of the morning, my first thought was: What is that horrible noise? When I started to gain consciousness and peered out at the dreary morning, I thought: Which idiot talked me into leading a bike ride, and so early? Oh! — that idiot was me! Oh well, even the best of us make mistakes once in a while. So I got organized and met three smiling, dedicated companions — Shirley Froyd, Carol Houde and Bob Moffitt. In spite of the slight Oregon drizzle and seemingly pre-dawn departure, it turned out to be a fun little outing. We followed the usual near-level route along bike paths and bike routes all within the city. Instead of ending up at the Obsidian Lodge for the usual Father’s Day Breakfast, we ended up at Lyons Restaurant on Franklin Blvd. for a good breakfast, but without the traditional strawberries. Thanks for joining me Shirley, Carol and Bob. Leader: Marriner Orum. |
