Olallie Ridge/Horsepasture MountainJune 17, 1995In spite of the rain there was a good turnout for this short hike which began at Horsepasture Saddle along Road 1993, just southeast of McKenzie Bridge. Each hiker was given a copy of a list of plant species to be found in this area. Bright purple larkspur covered a rock garden near the trailhead. On north-facing slopes there were still patches of snow and spring flowers in bloom. Rain and sleet fell as we neared the summit of Horsepasture Mountain. We walked a total of five miles. Enjoying this fine, invigorating day in the mountains were Terry Caron, Anne Larson, Bob Lemon, Anne McLucas, Ray Mikesell, Mary Millman, Karen Myers, Marie Street, Diana Wagman and trip leader Dave Predeek. |
