Pine Mountain ObservatoryJune 3-4, 1995Our group of astronomy buffs visited the High Desert Museum enroute to Pine Mountain on Saturday. That evening we were shown the various telescopes used by the University of Oregon and Friends of Pine Mountain and viewed a slide presentation of astro-photography. The night sky was mostly clear, so both the 15-inch and 24-inch telescopes were used to view our moon, Jupiter and its moons, the Ring Nebula, Mars and several globular clusters and galaxies. Besides our group, there were approximately 20 other visitors for the night’s viewing. Our group stopped in Bend for a delightfid Sunday brunch on our return to Eugene. Enjoying this outing were Teresita Ladd, Anne Montgomery, Dave Predeek and leader Glenn Meares. |
