Fall Creek BikeMay 14, 1995Our 40-mile Fall Creek bike ride got off to a rather rocky start when a front tire blew just 350 yards or so out of the starting gate (Lowell Park & Marina). Five minutes later we were on the road again, having replaced the tube. Mile 15.5 brought us to Johnny Creek Nature Trail, where we took a short rest stop. Gayle helped revitalize the riders by passing out home-baked chocolate chip cookies. Four-and-a-half miles further up the road we enjoyed lunch while perched (spread out) on two massive rocks overlooking the fast flowing Fall Creek. As we prepared to pedal back to Lowell, Obsidians John Levy and Janie Thomas whizzed by on their mountain bikes. However, they did pause long enough to exchange a few pleasantries. Two hours later a day of enjoyable riding came to an end. It was a great way for five mothers to enjoy Mother’s Day out in the country and up in the hills. The riders were Doris Allen, Gayle Berge, Mary Bremner, Shirley Froyd, Richard & Rose Marie Moffitt, Rick Romm and leader Bob Devine. |
