Fuji Mountain

October 5, 1994

At 8 a.m. on a beautiful fall morning six Obsidians started up the Willamette Pass for Fuji Mountain. At the railroad trestle we turned onto Eagle Creek Road and drove about 10 miles on a gravel road to the trailhead. The 1½-mile trail climbs gradually through the woods until a steep pitch at the top took us to the summit and a great view of Waldo Lake plus mountains from Jefferson to Thielsen. We enjoyed the full view briefly, but for lunch dropped down behind some rocks to get out of the very strong wind. Down in about an hour and home by 3:30. This pleasant outing was shared by John & Lenore McManigal, Wilma Moore, Paula Vehrs, Margaret Wiese and Catherine Jones, leader.
