North Umpqua Trail
October 1, 1994
Where were all the other Obsidians on such a sunny day?
Four Obsidians made this very scenic trip of about 7¾ miles, from 10 am to 3 pm.
Three of us left Eugene at 7:30 am, met Lloyd in Winchester, left his van at Calf Creek section
trailhead (five miles past Steamboat), then drove to Marsters Bridge to start the trip.
The Marsters section is four miles and the Calf Creek section is 3¾ miles.
We had lunch on a bluff, above Horseshoe Bend, where we watched some large salmon swimming in
the clear water near spawning beds.
The four Obsidians were Judy Forell, Helen Liguori, Lloyd Plaisted and Wes Prouty, trip leader.
