The day was perfect for a good hike, and deer bounded across scenic
Salmon Creek Road in front of our cars as we made our way to the Waldo
Mountain trailhead 20 miles east of Oakridge.
At the trailhead we geared up in the cool mountain air.
Then our group of seven headed up trail at about 10 am.
After a brisk hike we reached the lookout on top of the mountain.
Next came a leisurely lunch in the sun, while viewing beautiful Waldo Lake,
upper and lower Salmon Lakes and the Cascades.
After lunch we made our way down the steeper, more arid east side trail,
and then looped back through lush Waldo Meadows and continued on westerly
to complete our loop hike and return to the cars.
A good hiking group!
Guests were Marilyn Goldbeck, Cynthia Kuest and Suzi Lemon.
Obsidians were Dick Hildreth, Bob Hill, Bob Lemon and Mike Hansen (leader).
