Tidbits Mountain

September 21, 1994

On a hot Eugene Fall day, five of us walked up a pleasantly cool old growth forest trail towards Tidbits Mountain, so named “because the top is shattered into fingers or tidbits” [Oregon Geographic Names, Lewis A. McArthur]. This important triangulation station north of Blue River provided a vast, unbroken 360-degree view from the top. This is a five-mile round trip hike with an elevation gain of 1100 ft. The congenial hikers included Velma Shirk, Maude Nilsen, Norm Benton, Dave Predeek and Margaret Wiese (leader).
