Lucky Boy Mine

It was an exceptionally nice day for this Quartz Creek-Blue River adventure to view the old mining equipment and artifacts that are disappearing rapidly. The trail to the mines is vanishing at approximately the same rate as the old machinery. The highlight of this trip was meeting a very large bobcat on the trail — face to face! This magnificent creature was as surprised as we were. This very compatible group of gold seeking rhododrendon trompers included Jim Fritz, Dolores Johnson, Shirley Thompson and Gene Thaxton (leader).
