Pine Mountain Observatory
June 11-12, 1994
Our group of astronomy buffs visited the High Desert Museum en route
to Pine Mountain on Saturday.
That evening we were shown the various telescopes by the University of Oregon
and Friends of Pine Mountain Observatory and listened to a lecture and
demonstration of the latest in astronomical research, computers and CCDs.
We each had a look at Jupiter and its moons through the 15-inch telescope
before the clouds moved in and ended our evening’s viewing.
The group stopped in Bend for a delightful Sunday brunch on our return to Eugene.
Those enjoying this outing were Kevin Clark, Jane Hackett, Bill Montgomery,
Ray Mikesell, Gene Thaxton and leader Glenn Meares.
