Eight hikers enjoyed a day on the coast with Cascade Head as a destination.
Throughout the day showers came and went and a few of us ended up with damp feet.
Spirits were never down for long as good company and nice scenery made up for the rain.
The trail is special because of a mix of lush forest ending in open grassy pastures high above the ocean.
Nesting birds and wild flowers are but a part of the scene that stands out when visiting this
unique area in late spring.
Later, the group elected to drive Hwy. 101 down to Florence, stopping at various scenic points.
While holiday traffic was heavy and the guys had a heck of a time finding an open outhouse,
we had fun!
Treats were ordered at a Florence restaurant later as the clouds parted for the relaxing drive home.
This day’s visit to the coast was rewarding for all as we wait for the high Cascades to
open for summer visits.
The leader (Kevin Clark) thanks Joe Garrison for driving, as well as Carole Bekkenhults,
Melanie Clasen, Jim Fritz, Gary Marx, Anne Mclvor and John Pilafian for their great company.
