Cape Lookout

Cape Lookout is a special hike on the coast near Tillamook in the Three Capes scenic area. The trail is in much better condition this spring compared to a mile of mud last year. The hike is an easy walk through a forested trail, open views of the ocean, wild flowers and wonderful big Sitka spruce trees. There has been some trail damage from a number of big tees blown down in a January 1993 wind storm, but unless there has been much heavy rain it is comfortable walking. By going the back way up through Monmouth, Valley Junction and Hebo it is easy to do the hike in one day and have room for sightseeing in the area. Hikers were Rachel Boxrud, Rita Johnson, Bonnie Manheim, Maura Mueller and leader Mary Ellen West.
