McKenzie River TrailMarch 27, 1994Last Palm Sunday 11 people were looking for a great place to visit for a hike. They satisfied the desire by checking out the always beautiful McKenzie River Trail. The section enjoyed was from Trailbridge Reservoir downstream to just above Belknap Spring. Trilliums and other flowers dotted the trail in many sections on this sunny day. A delightful lunch stop was taken along the shore where cedar and hemlock grow to great size. The fauna included winter wrens singing on the forest floor and an osprey above Trailbridge Reservoir. With Ray Mikesell’s suggestion we added an extra mile or two to the hike and all appreciated the extra time on the trail. Later, Melanie Clasen drove half the group to Belknap hot springs for a swim to continue the fine day. After so many rainy days before, we all were thankful for the great day of conversation and the best of Mother Nature. Hikers were Melanie Clasen, Mary & Rita Johnson, Van McKay, Ray Mikesell, Sig Otto, Birgitte Williams, Megan & Margee Wright, Andrea Vollner and Kevin Clark, leader. |
