Jones TrailMarch 19, 1994We left SEHS parking lot shortly after 8:00 a.m. for the 35-mile drive to the trailhead. We stopped at the Lowell Ranger Station to meet with our eighth hiker — Lynn Bailey. Then on to Fall Creek. The Jones Trail is a side trail off the Fall Creek Trail. About six miles in from the trailhead there is a small open meadow with a view down into a small valley. Although spring officially began the next day, winter was still holding its grip. Trees were flocked with snow and there was about 2" of snow on the ground at lunch at the meadow. Nevertheless, the sun was out and it was very pleasant. The hike back through the woods was uneventful except for the discovery of fresh bear scat next to the trailhead. The only non-Obsidian hiker was Lynn Bailey. Obsidians were Karen Kaminski, Gary Marx, Sig Otto, Sharon Ritchie, Birgitte Williams, Sandy Reul and trip leader Chuck Reul. |
