Mt. Shasta

June 18-19, 1994

Only two of the seven of us had climbed Mt. Shasta before, so I was very happy when all of us made it to the summit and back. For most of us this was the highest mountain (14,162 ft.) we had ever climbed. We started at Bunny Flats (approximately 7500 ft.); climbed up to about 9500 ft. (Helen Lake area), camped out, got up at 1 a.m. and covered the rest of the way up and down. We were blessed with sunny, warm weather and clear views. Joining me (Bill Montgomery) on this major test of endurance were Josh Ladau, Mike Landes, Ed Lovegren, Kristin Kaminski, John Pilafian and James Schick.
