Santiam PassMarch 6, 1993The leader, Dot Leland, was delighted to have sunny, warm weather, great snow and nine enthusiastic companions to enjoy this favorite ski trip with her. Thanks to Betsy Anderson, Gladys Grancorvitz, Bill Johnson, Sig Otto, Sharon Ritchie, Chris Steele and Muriel Willingham. Where else can you ski and see five lakes in eight miles? The lakes are close to FS Road 2079. From the Corbett Sno-Park we make a loop into Island Lake, then a stop at Link Lake, and lunch at Torso Lake. On the way back we passed Meadow Lake and turned down into lovely Hand Lake. Three energetic skiers liked the Island Lake Loop and so they did it again on the way out. On this trip you will find open country, a variety of scenery, lakes, streams, few people, no snowmobilers, views of Mt. Washington, Three-Fingered Jack and Mt. Jefferson, and a stop for refreshments on the way home — all adding up to a satisfying, happy day in the snow! |
