Shotgun CreekJanuary 31, 1993We drove through sunny patches arid fog on our way to Shotgun Creek, but sun prevailed at the trailhead. Our group walked the Loop Trail and climbed Drury Ridge. None of us had ever gone up Drury Ridge before. We stopped for lunch on the trail and found a grassy spot in the sun. Had we continued as the trail descended up ahead we would have reached the viewpoint at the end, but we didn’t find this out until later when we passed some more knowledgeable hikers. And so we ate and talked, with a closed-in view of approximately 10-year-old forest. Our 6- or 7-mile walk gave us a good workout without exhausting anyone Hikers were Gayle Berge, Ben Elkus, Myrna Peterson, Gary Marx, Velma Shirk and leader Susan Baker. |
