Deerhorn Loop Bicycle RideMay 30, 1993Eight bicyclists met at Hendricks Bridge Wayside ready for riding in the rain. We crossed the bridge and headed up Deerhorn and rode for a pleasant eight miles beside fern covered banks and the McKenzie River. Only a few light sprinkles caught us. We continued on Holden Road and the McKenzie Highway to the Leaburg Store for a coffee stop, then on up McKenzie Highway and Greenwood Road to the Leaburg Trout Hatchery for lunch. We were lucky to have dry time for lunch and a walk around the trout ponds. Back down McKenzie Highway with loops off at Greenwood and Holden Roads saw us looking at darker skies to the west. We had light showers along the way but all participants enjoyed a really lovely day of biking and conversation. Total distance 29 miles plus lots of F.F.F.F. (Ferns, Flowers, Food and Fun) by Gayle Berge, Mary Bremner, Bob Devine, Shirley Froyd, Liz Igl, Warren Kadas, Alice Pueschner and Trip Leader Norma Lockyear. |
