Mt. Pisgah ArboretumFebruary 6, 1993On Saturday, February 6 this year’s first trail maintenance trip was at Mt. Pisgah Arboretum under the direction of Tom LoCascio, resident manager. Favored with cool, dry weather, we Obsidians (plus a few other volunteers) removed vines and debris and spread mulch on the Incense Cedar Trail, our main project. Tools of the trade included loppers, shovels, pitchforks, rakes, hoes and of course our favorite — the wheelbarrow. A great crew did a great job: this popular trail now looks very nice. Pleased with the day’s efforts, the group consisting of Angie Barta, Jerry Crosby, Dallas & Jack Cole, Clara Emlen, Ruth Galaid, Bill Hemphill, Bill Montgomery, Velma Shirk, Harvey & Randy Speck and leader Ray Jensen left for home by 3:30 to perhaps soothe a sore muscle or two. The Mt. Pisgah Arboretum invites volunteers to work the first and third Saturdays of each month. We Obsidians will again be there on Saturday, March 6. Come, join us! See you there! |
