Cloverpatch ButteFebruary 22, 1992Because of unfavorable weather conditions, what was to have been a cross-country ski trip to Midnight Lake was changed to a hike. Four people chose the alternate plan and we decided to explore the Cloverpatch Butte Trail, a new area for each of us. The trail is reached via Westfir and traverses the north bank of the Willamette River through a series of striking rock benches which provide spectacular views of the valley below. Further along, the trail passes through some imposing old growth with promise of wildflower displays in the spring. This trail, with its southern exposure, made for a good destination on a winter day. Satisfied hikers were Doris Allen, Pam Larson, Birgitte Williams and leader Leona Devine. |
