Lower North Shore TrailFebruary 8, 1992Mary looked startled when a horde of people arrived at the Lowell Ranger Station — 13 to be exact. She quickly moved on to give us a thumbnail sketch of the background of the Eugene to PCT Trail: we were to do a 5-mile segment of it. With storm clouds looming on the horizon we started at Landex Camp heading west toward the dam. The trail itself is nice and wide, although hard to spot at first. (The writer would suggest waiting until the reservoir is full again again for a prettier walk, as there were lots of tree stumps to be seen.) We found a grassy embankment for a lunch stop with a lovely view of Diamond Peak. The storm clouds just threatened, so we all enjoyed a nice, dry hike on the new Lower North Shore Trail. Attending were non-members Ray Beer, Timothy & Victoria Bolz, Barb Helberg, Jeanie Holmes, John Koon, Alicia Mothur, Rhonda Nowell and Ruth Anne Paul; and Obsidians Sylvia Harvey, Mary Millman, Sharon Ritchie (scribe), and leader Mary Bridgeman. |
