The six of us left Eugene in one vehicle and headed up Hwy. 58 in the morning fog.
It cleared as we reached the mountains but the highway was icy in spots.
It’s been so mild this winter: Odell Lake is still ice free!
We parked at Odell Lake Resort.
It was freezing cold as we skied up the trail, but it felt warm in the sunshine.
There wasn’t more than a skiff of new snow and the trail was icy in spots.
At Fawn Lake we sat in the sunshine and had lunch.
Later we skied along the shaded south shore where the ice was thickest.
Everything was sparkly and covered with snow, and we enjoyed fine views of the surrounding mountains.
We skied to the far end of the lake.
The return to Odell Lake on the icy trail was fast and we all fell a few times.
We stopped at the resort dining room for coffee, soup and cobbler before returning to Eugene in
Participants were Doris Allen, Norma Lockyear, Dick & Rose Marie Moffitt, Suzanne Steussy
and leader Dave Predeek.
