Cape PerpetuaJanuary 4, 1992Judging from the weather of the previous week who would have thought it would be a beautiful day at the coast? But it was, and we enjoyed every minute of it. We parked at the State Park just beyond Neptune State Park and went inland up Gwyn Creek, stopping along the way to admire the old growth and various kinds of mushrooms. Three miles up the creek valley the trail climbs to a ridge and follows the ridge back to the Cape Perpetua Visitor Center. The sun made the woods a sparkling emerald green. Before reaching the Center, we ate our snacks overlooking the beach far below. From the Visitor Center we took an old wagon road back to the car. On the way home we stoped at Strawberry Rock to watch the sea lions riding the churning, foamy white surf. Then on to Alpha-Bits in Mapleton for soup and pie for Elizabeth Cross, Sylvia Harvey, Tiffany Taylor, Llary Zang and Richard Heinzkill (leader). |
