Clear Lake Loop
October 13, 1992
The hike around the Clear Lake Loop was on a beautiful sunny day.
We left the S.E.H.S. parking lot about 9:15 a.m. and arrived at Clear Lake shortly before 11 a.m.
The entrance was closed by an iron gate so we proceeded to the exit gate which was also closed with
an iron gate but it was not padlocked so we opened the gate and got access for our three cars.
The Clear Lake Resort Area — which is the starting point for the hike — had a sign stating
that it was “Operated by the Siuslaw Fish & Game Club by Permit from the Forest Service”.
There were a number of their people working in the area and we were questioned as to why we were there
as the area was closed.
We informed them we just wanted to hike around the lake.
The foliage, especially the vine maple, was out in gorgeous colors.
The hike took approximately, three hours.
After eating our lunch, we returned to Eugene to listen to the Presidential Debate.
Hikers were: Dorothy Scherer, Molly Bateson, Norman Lumian, Corinne Hunt, Marian Borchardt,
Shirley Cameron, Fred & Jean Richardson, Gladys Grancorvitz, Dale Lindamood,
Arun Take & Ridyut Don (from India) and Clarence & Susan Scherer, leaders.
