Our Fuji Mountain trip started out with sunshine and cool temperatures, a perfect combination for
ideal hiking conditions.
Our compatible group of ten reached the top about one o’clock for a panoramic view of Odell
and Waldo Lakes, as well as Crane Prairie Reservoir.
The major mountains to the east were clearly visible, and after lunch and a short nap by some hikers
we returned to our cars and some people stopped for ice-cream in Oakridge.
The rest of us were back in Eugene by six o’clock.
We encountered some traces of snow from the season’s first snowfall the Wednesday before our trip.
A great bunch of hikers were: Mari Baldwin, Keith Christensen, Leon Dannen, Robert Eiffert,
Bill Hemphill, Midge Lovering, Grace Swanson, Andy Thompson, Brooks Walker
and Sandra Larsen, leader.
