Hiking up Scott Mountain from the north has always been one of my favorite outings.
The vertical cliffs and piles of large boulders are not characteristic of the more familiar south
the east slopes of the mountain.
Very rarely does one meet other groups of people on the north side.
We began our hike at Scott Lake and headed north-east.
Near Hand Lake we were joined by “Lucy”.
She must have been following us since we left Scott Lake, so we sternly ordered her to
Lucy, a friendly Black Labrador, would not heed our instructions, but continued following us up
the Hand Lake Trail.
She followed us to the top of Scott Mountain and joined us for lunch.
At Tenas Lakes we learned of Lucy’s identity: her owner was camped at Scott Lake and was
looking for her.
We returned Lucy to her owner’s camp before driving home.
We had a beautiful day with clear skies.
Enjoying this late summer outing were Doris Allen, Vi Johnson, Kristen Kaminski, Gary Marx,
Ray Mikesell, Fred & Dorothy Munz, and leader Dave Predeek.
