Table Mountain

September 20, 1992

Table Mountain is rated as a “C” outing by the Portland Mazamas, meaning that it is tough. It is especially tough when the gate to Gillette Lake is locked. It was locked on September 20, 1992. So the outing was 15 rather than 10 miles. Barbara Williams is a postal worker who walks for a living. The hike leader (Dan Chamness) is a CPA who walks for a hobby. The trekkers climbed up and down 3,400 feet and walked in and out 15 miles with a minimal number of rest stops. Lunch was consumed on the summit offering great views of the Columbia Gorge. It was a nice experience on Table Mountain, but both hikers vowed to leave Table Mountain to other trekkers in the future.
