Indigo Lake

August 29-30, 1992

On August 29 four women set our on a backpacking trip. The drive was lovely via Hills Creek Dam to the trailhead at Timpanogas Lake. The road was in good shape including the last few miles of gravel. At Timpanogas we hiked to water’s edge to have our lunch, beautiful spot. With backpacks mounted we headed up the well maintained trail to Indigo, 1.9 miles through exquisite stands of hemlock and fir. This lake is a jewel and our “primitive” campsite was great. The one-mile hike around the lake was delightful. In the morning we headed down the trail to the junction with Sawtooth Mountain Trail. We stowed our packs among the trees and hiked to a spot just below the peak with a magnificent view for lunch. This is a difficult 3.5 mile trail, and well worth it. The weather was perfect for Sharon Ritchie, Mardi Klotz, Kristen Kaminski and Inge Tarantola, trip leader.
