Going to Chambers (Camp) Lake from Pole Creek trailhead makes for a long day but a good one with
great views of the Three Sisters and a congenial group of hikers.
The hike is 14 miles and the drive to the trailhead about 110 miles so an early start (6) is in order.
The scenery was marvelous as expected; a surprise was the lack of snow at the higher elevations
and the mud color of Squaw Creek.
Be prepared for unexpected weather is an admonition always suggested.
This day the “prepared” had rain gear for the hail that fell on the trip out.
Hail fell while the mountains were constantly visible and the weather warm.
Hikers were Martha Brown, Barb Elsen, Maxine Hall, Gary Marx, Deanna Wachs and leader Mary Ellen West.
