Alder Creek Meadows

July 26, 1992

We began at the intersection of Deschutes National Forest fire roads #700 and #650, trailhead of an abandoned trail which provided a connection to the Green Lakes Trail (formerly the Scott Trail). From that point we climbed the cinder fields towards the east side of the North Sister. Our goal was Alder Creek Meadows, watershed for Alder Creek at the base of Linn Glacier moraine. The weather was clear and hot, but a wind kept us cool. The return trip required some bushwhacking through forest, which (thanks to correct use of compass) led us directly to our cars. All participants (Ray Mikesell, Vi Johnson, Dick Hildreth, Hal & Joyce Owen, Ann Hawkins and Anne McLucas) were pleased with the trip through an area unknown to most people. The trip leader (Aaron Novick) was delighted with the hikers, who were competent and interesting.
