Black Crater

July 11, 1992

On the way to the top we had a lively discussion as to which peaks were in view. Once on top, we spent more time identifying peaks, a task made more challenging because several had their tops clouded over. There were quite a few succulent-like plants in bloom in the open area near the top. The yellow blossoms with their green foliage scattered among the red rocks was an impressive sight. One car on the way back stopped at the Dee Wright Memorial to get yet another perspective on the peaks that were visible and to look back at the peak that had just been climbed by Doris Allen, Maggie Gontrom Bill & Mary Holser, Herb & Lelia Lee, Richard Muller, Chris Steele and leader Richard Heinzkill.
