McKenzie River Trail

From Carmen Dam we hiked up the east side of the river. The views of Koosah and Sahalie Falls are so much more spectacular from that side of the river. We had lunch in the picnic grounds near the restaurant on Clear Lake and then enjoyed some extra goodies at that very pleasant eating spot. It was a hot day and staying on the west side of the lake kept us almost continuously in the shade. We retraced our steps and crossed to the west side of the river at the bridge above Sahalie Falls, returning to Carmen Dam and our cars. McKenzie hikers were Marty Hathaway, LaShell Starkel, Bonnie Ledford, Christy White, Gladys Grancorvitz, and Jean Gillett (leader).
