Fuji MountainJune 4, 1992We were greeted at the trailhead by the sound of money being made: chain saws singing and trees crashing down! The trees along the trail to the summit of Mt. Fuji, as yet, remain unmolested by chain saws although numerous trees have recently succumbed to the forces of the wind. The day was sunny, no snow along the trail, still, a surprisingly cold breeze that kept the many mosquitoes at bay. Our hiking party — Ray Jensen, Carolyn Roth, Glen Gore, Erik Furehner, Mary Millman, Elaine Yost, Kevin Clark, and leader Royal Murdock — enjoyed a breezy and mosquito-free lunch identifying the many lakes and peaks of the high Cascades. |
