Cerro Gordo

A beautiful day greeted hikers who met the leader near Dorena Lake (thanks to Bonnie, who guided the Eugene contingent). They were joined by the leader and two other residents and near resident. Starting at the leader’s log home we made our way through trails, an old homestead road and bushwhacking. The luxuriant growth was very evident this year with quite a few flowers cheering up the hillsides. We paid a visit to the pioneer cemetery and old homesite and had our lunch at the edge of their old orchard. We saw elk tracks in the area and some sculptures provided by a pair of “caretakers” of the area. The after-lunch trip is downhill and loops past another neighborhood, where we took a quick look at the bed and breakfast place located there. Those participating were Jan Beals, Martha Brown, Shirley Cameron, Ladislav Filip, Sylvia Harvey, Barbara & Tiffany Hasak, Edie Roberts, Bonnie Manheim, Brady Pecks and leader Shirley Froyd.
