Rooster RockMay 17, 1992Ben Jeffries, the original trip leader, became ill and asked me at the parking lot to lead this hike. Since our group was small, I consented. The group walked along the Trout Creek Trail, stopping to look at wild flowers. It was fairly warm, so the pace was leisurely. At the summit we rested in the sun for approximately half an hour, and enjoyed the rock formations of the Menagerie area. Because of the heat, most members began to descend soon after lunch to find shade. Our only problem was that one member of our party took the Rooster Rock Trail going down, and it took over an hour to find her. Hikers were Diana Cantwell, Erik Firchman, Andy & Mary-Anne Thompson and Gary Marx, leader. |
