Black Canyon CampgroundMay 16, 1992The satisfaction and pride from seeing a trail built or improved by your own hands is hard to describe, as I’m sure other participants in the May Trail Work Day would agree. We met at Black Canyon Campground to work on the Nature Trail. The goal is to make this trail wheelchair accessible. Our assignment was to cut new trail in two sections, making a gentler grade. The work moved along briskly, broken by an enjoyable lunch near the river. We especially appreciated the help of six-year-old Trevor, who had more energy and enthusiasm than anyone else! Trail workers were Mary Bridgeman, Dallas & Jack Cole, Ray Jensen, Vi Johnson, Chris & Trevor Steele and Mike Shirk & (leader) Velma Shirk. Lowell Ranger District’s Sue Baker provided technical assistance. |
