Bicycling in France
December 18, 1992
Around 80 people enjoyed the December 18 potluck and slide program by Dick Moffitt and Norma Lockyear. Eleven people, seven of them Obsidians, bicycled for three weeks in France near Nice and Avignon. Dick and Norma used two projectors and two screens to give an interesting contrast of their trip. What a job to integrate two sets! Dick must have taken many of his pictures while riding his bicycle. Other Obsidians on the trip were Rose Marie Moffitt, Liz Igle, Bob Devine, Donna Holland and Alan Sorenson.
Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Obie brought a special guest from Eugene’s sister city, Irkutsk, Siberia, Russia. Featured in a Register-Guard article last fall, Lida Sclocchini owns the “American House” and operates it as a bed & breakfast. Her husband was an American and worked through much red tape to build this venture.
Thanks to John and Lenore McManigal for the Christmas tree. Vera Woolley provided the beautiful table decorations. Other people who assisted with the tree and tables were Gladys Grancorvitz, Dorothy Turner, Christy White and Mary Bridgeman.
At the December potluck, 147 lbs. of assorted food items were collected for Food for Lane County. When we delivered the boxes, the people at the warehouse thanked us and said that collections were going well this year.
The warehouse is near REI on Madison Street, if you would like to contribute at some other time.
