Tahkenitch Dunes

November 24, 1991

After listening to the rain come down in buckets all night long, I fully expected a series of “I-can’t-make-it” phone calls and no-shows. Shame on me for my lack of faith!! Sixteen sign-ups, 14 show-ups. Expecting the worst at the coast, I was again surprised. We had occasional showers but the air temperature was warm. After a very leisurely lunch overlooking the ocean, we took the coastal/dune route back to the trailhead. The coastal portion proved very interesting. We were greeted with a storm-tossed high tide. This caused much scampering at times. Thank heaven there were no cliffs! Many thanks to my fellow hikers for making it another great day. They were: Non-members Gil Laas, Pat Monahan and Clare Tucker, and Obsidians Susan Baker, Mary Battin, Bob Dark, Ben Elkus, Sylvia Harvey, Corrine Hunt, Gary Marx, Glenn Meares, Anne Montgomery and Sandy Moore. Sharon Ritchie, leader.
