Fall Creek TrailJanuary 20, 1991Dawn broke clear, sunny and cool as 8 hikers entered the Fall Creek Recreation Area. We left one car at Dolly Varden Bridge and started hiking at Road #1828 which is 8 miles further up the trail. The rain-filled streams and clear skies brought out the best of the wilderness. After lunch on a rocky promontory overlooking the creek and blessedly in the sun, everyone felt energetic enough to add a detour up the Clark Butte Trail for an extra two miles, even though the Reul’s were carrying backpacks filled with such oddities as a waffle iron, several metal wedges, and 6 water bottles. Along with Chuck (leader) and Sandy Reul who were conditioning for an upcoming backpack trip were Sharon Ritchie, Virginia Prouty, Rich and Jan Anselmo, Bill Ford and Sachiko Jwasaki. |
