Chuckle Springs & Upper Valley
October 26, 1991
This hike is actually two short ones a few driving miles apart; both are through majestic old
growth and are located in the upper reaches of the Middle Fork of the Willamette River.
They are listed and described in the new “50 Old-Growth Day Hikes” (Nos. 33, 34)
by Cissel & Eberhardt.
The Chuckle Springs Trail meanders alongside the Middle Fork and the sight and sound of water prevails,
whereas the Upper Valley Trail is through a grove of quiet and serene giants.
Enjoying these delightful trails, along with the gnomes and elves, were Kim Gagnon, Gwen Husser,
John Pegg, Sylvia Sycamore and leader Glenn Meares.
