Clear Lake Loop
October 6, 1991
The Sunday of our hike was bright and sunny — though crispy cool in the morning.
Although the gate down to the trailhead was locked, we found many vehicles and people in the
The Forest Service and volunteers were repairing several of the facilities.
We left Eugene shortly after 8:00 a.m., and commenced the hike at 10:30.
The foliage was beautiful with the vine maple in brilliant color.
The lake was sparkling with mirror-like reflections of the trees in the water.
Of our 15 hikers, we divided into a “fast” group and a “senior citizen” group,
which worked out quite well — the fast group completing the loop some 30 to 60 minutes before
the other group, which stopped to eat lunch and rest at the Great Springs.
The hike was enjoyed by Hikers Margee Wright and her two 10-year-old daughters Jenny & Megan,
Paula Vehrs, Frieda Dorsey, Robin Steussy, Helen Knowlton, Jane Hilt, Gladys Grancorvitz,
Denise Savigny, Joyce Mitchell, Claudia Gottschall, Kevin Clark
and Susan & Clarence Scherer (leaders).
